Uploaded some photos from my sketchbooks over the last six or seven years. Here are a few shots. You can view all 84 photos here.
I did this illustration for Ohio Outdoors and Wildlife.
I’ve started assigning myself small projects. I give myself two hours to complete an illustration for an opinion piece from the New York Times. Black and white. I use the first hour to read, research and jot down notes and sketches. The second hour I spend tightening sketches, choosing one and completing the illustration.
My first project was an article about the idea of acts only being considered wrong if you get caught doing them. A man who lived by the 11th commandment which was “not getting caught”.
I drew these images for a graphic novel about a year ago. I busted them back out to practice with my wacom tablet. The illustrations are done with brush, ink, and now digital color. I’m not sold on using a Wacom for everything, but for comic illustrations or quick deadlines it’s definitely a great tool.
